In his first Black media appearance in over a year, Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard covered a wide variety of subjects with Afternoons with Amos Host Amos Brown. Mayor Ballard defended his economic development and job creation efforts. He also strongly and some times defensively defended the controversial deals involving the Pacers, the sale of the Water Company, and the 50 year lease of city parking meters to Xerox/ACS.

Mayor Ballard lauded his efforts increasing business with minority-owned businesses. Ballard defended the decision to fix up swimming pools and charged that the full size pool in Wes Montgomery Park, a source of controversy was “rarely used”. Mayor Ballard said that his record assisting African-Americans was the best of any Mayor.  And the Mayor admitted that during his three years in office he has regularly talked with former Indianapolis Mayor, now NYC Deputy Mayor, Steve Goldsmith.  Hear the full interview above.
