Joshua’s Troop Wraps Production on “Troop Nation”

Nashville, TN — Producers Percy Gray, Jr. and Jeral Gray, Sr.—GrayBoyz Productions—recently put the finishing touches on Troop Nation, the upcoming release from Joshua’s Troop. The fourth CD from Chicago’s award-winning contemporary gospel youth choir releases June, 2010, and calls their audience to radical transformation and impact in Christ.

Since its founding a decade ago, Joshua’s Troop has not only kept kids off the streets, but has also helped transform their lives and their communities. The new project’s title is inspired by 1 Peter 2:9, which proclaims that believers are “…a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation.” Percy Gray, Jr. (New Direction, Chicago Mass Choir) says the group chose the title as a way to express their commitment to stand together as one for the Lord, united against the destructive influences of the world.

The choir’s electrifying blend of contemporary, R & B, and hip-hop influences resulted in the recent smash radio single, “Everybody Clap Your Hands.” This hit not only topped the radio charts, but also sold tens of thousands of downloads, garnered more than half a million video views on YouTube, and earned them a 2008 Stellar Award nomination. “Everybody Clap Your Hands” will be included as a special bonus track on Troop Nation, which will be supported by a brand new concept video of the song.

The electrifying debut single from Troop Nation, “Give Me Your Eyes,” shipped to radio earlier this week and is already being added in some markets.

New Haven Records President Ken Harding concludes, “Joshua’s Troop is one of the true success stories for our label—and industry—in the past several years. We’re honored to be a part of their music, ministry, and national impact.”
