UPDATED WITH STATEMENT FROM IBE BOARD: Virtually every full time employee of Indiana Black Expo signed a letter to the Expo Board of Directors raising serious concerns about the leadership of Expo’s President and CEO Tanya Bell.  Their letter, dated May 6th, was sent to board members after a March meeting with the Board’s Personnel Committee failed to achieve a response. Afternoons with Amos listeners defended both the Black Expo staff and President Tanya Bell in a wide ranging discussion. Listen to community reaction above.  Below read the statement from the Black Expo staff; (NEW) a statement from IBE’s Board of Directors, a statement from President Tanya Bell and the original letter from Expo employees.

STATEMENT FROM STAFF OF INDIANA BLACK EXPO

The staff of Indiana Black Expo is committed to the success of this organization, which has been a pillar of this community for 41 years, and we continue to work hard on all aspects and details for the events of the 41st Annual Summer Celebration, July 7-17, in downtown Indianapolis.  We collectively voiced our concerns to the Board of Directors, and an outside consultant has been brought to the table to assess the situation and provide assistance with employee relations.  A process has been started and an action plan is being established to move forward.

Signed,  The Staff of Indiana Black Expo, Inc.
