Runs 11 Minutes ©2011 WTLC/Radio One. mayor Greg Ballard wants to control any IPS schools the State of Indiana takes over because of poor academic performance.  The Mayor announced his policy Wednesday, revealing that he got the Indiana Legislature to insert into the 2011-2013 State Budget a provision allowing any city or county executive to petition the Indiana State Board of Education to assume oversight control of any school in those communities taken over by the state.  The Mayor’s announcement was the first time any member of the public knew of this new state law, which was adopted in the final day of the legislative session.  Listen to the Mayor’s speech above.  Feel free to comment in the Comments Section below.
