Colts continue losing streak

(Indianapolis) – The Indianapolis Colts are now 0-12 on the season losing to the New England Patriots yesterday.  The Colts came back from a 31-3 deficit by the fourth quarter.  Quarterback Dan Orlovsky threw for 353 yards and two touchdowns in his first start for Indianapolis.

Super Bowl half-time performer confirmed

(Indianapolis) – Confirming rumors which had been swirling for months, the NFL and NBC revealed during the Detroit-New Orleans game last night that singer Madonna will provide entertainment during the Super Bowl 46 halftime show.  Super Bowl 46 will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 5th.

Get ready to pay more to park

(Indianapolis) – Effective Jan 2, 2012, motorists will pay more to use city parking meters. In accordance with the city’s agreement with ParkIndy, downtown and Broad Ripple meters now at $1 per hour, will increase to $1.50 per hour, while other meters in Indianapolis will increase from 25 to 50 cents. The conversion of all parking meters to accept credit cards is expected to be completed by December 31st.  

Police officer arrested

(Greenwood) – A law enforcement officer is facing charges this morning after being accused of driving drunk.  Officer Zachary Vincent was pulled over last Saturday. Officials are not releasing many details about the case. Vincent has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.

Three suspected in homicide

(Muncie) – Police are continuing to review the case of a woman’s body found burning on the side of a road last Saturday.  Officers were dispatched to an area on North Gavin Street. Upon arriving they saw a woman’s burning body was wrapped in a sheet and called fire personnel to put out the blaze. As word spread about the crime, police began receiving information pointing to Terry Rutledge, Regina Miller and Antowyn Warren as being involved. Rutledge and Miller have been charged with murder and obstruction of justice; Warren was also taken into custody.  An autopsy is expected today on the victim.

Man  sentenced to prison for child abuse

(New Albany) –  An illegal immigrant is headed to prison for the next six and a half years for beating a toddler almost to death in January 2010.  The “New Albany News and Tribune” reports Juan Carlos Contreras-Juarez pleaded guilty last Friday to felony aggravated battery. Contreras-Juarex was the boyfriend of the toddler’s  mother and is not the biological father.  Contreras-Juarez will also be on probation for three and a half years after his release from prison.
