For many students, it’s back to school time. For many schools, a school uniform policy is implemented. If you’re a parent whose child is required to wear a uniform to school then you know that outfitting your child for school can get quiet expensive. So how does a parent save money on school uniforms while making sure their child is dressed appropriately for school? Here are a few tips that ensure a quality look that is within the guidelines and most of the money within the wallets of moms and dads.
Use the Internet
Chances are there are other parents who are selling quality clothing that fall under the guidelines of your child’s uniform policies. Check sites such as Craigslist, eBay and other parent websites that offer new or gently used clothing that can be apart of your child’s uniform attire.
Hit The Thrift Stores & Consignment Shops!
Thrift Stores and consignment stores are great ways to purchase quality uniform clothing for your child and save money. Many schools require dark or khaki colored pants; so delve into the racks of your favorite thrift store to purchase a few pair without breaking your bank.
Coupons & Sales Papers
As a parent, perhaps you are well aware the treasures that coupons and sales papers are. So take the time to visit your favorite store websites or even Target.com for apparel coupons from time to time. Many of these coupons are in bulk during July and early August.
When Making A School Uniform Purchase, Think Long Term
Sure you want the uniform to last throughout the school year, but also think about the clothing lasting a couple of years. Consider slightly larger sizes that can be altered. Pants can perhaps be purchased long and your child can grow into them without you having to purchase pants again in the fall. For the girls, skirts can also be hemmed to accommodate a couple of years as well.
