According to WTHR.com in Shelbyville – A 19-month-old girl has died after being brought to Methodist Hospital Wednesday with injuries consistent with being shaken, Shelbyville Police said.

Police say Ashley Fleener, 20, is the child’s mother. Her boyfriend, Timothy Reedy, 22, of Shelbyville, is a person of interest in the case. He is not the child’s father.

The child, a girl named Erin Badgley, was brought to the hospital Wednesday morning, and died Thursday morning at around 10:00 am. At a press conference Thursday afternoon, Shelbyville police said Reedy, who is not the child’s father, brought the girl to Methodist Hospital from Shelbyville.

Police say Erin appeared to be suffering from injuries similar to those seen in shaken baby syndrome, but they say that’s unusual because of the child’s age. Shaken baby syndrome is more commonly seen in younger infants. An autopsy will determine the cause of death.

Police are still investigating the case. This story will be updated.
