Central Indiana Snow Totals
Indianapolis broke a record, with 6.2 inches of snow falling on March 24. The previous record for that day was 5.8 inches, which happened in 1912.
The storm total in Indianapolis reached 8.7 inches by 1 p.m. Monday.
The National Weather Service says that 11.5 inches of snow had fallen in Parke & Grant Counties.
A storm total of 10.5 inches was recorded near Muncie.
Due to the Snow the Trash pickup in Indianapolis is delayed by one day until next Monday.
School Board Member Charged For Stealing Political Signs
An Avon School Board member must apologize after she admitted on Facebook to taking opposing political signs.
Kim Woodward reached agreement with the Hendricks County prosecutor, months after she was charged with misdemeanor criminal conversion.
The person who filed a complaint with police about the missing sign, originally called for Woodward’s resignation and for a public apology.
She must also pay $220 in court costs and fees.
Woodward was re-elected in November as an at-large school board member in Avon.
New Jobs Coming to Indianapolis
Interactive Intelligence Group, which makes call center software plans to expand its headquarters on the North side and bring 250 new jobs to the circle city this year.
Celadon Trucking Services is expected to announce its expansion today. Earlier this year, the company said it wanted to build a driver-training center in Warren Township and add more than 150 employees to the local workforce by 2016.
Governor Mike Pence and Mayor Greg Ballard will be on hand for today’s announcement.
Indiana Solider Killed in Afghanistan
An Indiana soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom has died in the line of duty.
23-year-old Sgt. Tristan Wade, 23 died on March 22 in Afghanistan.
Wade was killed when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device,/
Wade was 2009 graduate from Southport High School.
Police Investigate Deadly Car Crash
Two people were killed early Sunday morning in a crash on Indianapolis’ east side.
25 year old Sherelle Davis, and 22 year old Mercedes McGinnis, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, officials said.
Police initially arrived because of a burglar alarm.
But when officers arrived, they found that a car had crashed into a building, ejecting 25 year old Sherelle Davis, and 22 year old Mercedes McGinnis, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The car’s driver, 27-year old Tiffany McGinnis, was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and 2 other charges.
She bonded out of the Marion County Jail yesterday afternoon.
Teen Who Robbed IPS Teacher Arrested
A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the robbery of an IPS teacher last week.
The teen was arrested on charges of robbery and criminal confinement.
The 23-year-old teacher was leaving Francis Scott Key School on Wednesday when he was ordered to the ground by two teens who stole his wallet, cellphone and told the teacher to crawl in the opposite direction of his car.
That’s when the two teens jumped into the car and sped away.
New Rules for Buy Medicine Could Be Coming
You may soon be facing tighter limits on the amount of cold and allergy pills you buy. often used to make methamphetamine under a proposal approved by Indiana lawmakers.
Yesterday The House voted in favor of the bill that would limit the annual purchase of pseudoephedrine-based products, commonly used to make Meth, to about 61 grams a person.
Supporters say the new limits will make it more difficult for meth makers to get the medications without penalizing people who need them for legitimate health reasons.
The bill now goes back to the Senate for final approval.
IMS To Charge For In-Oval Parking
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will now charge for parking inside the oval on race days.
The speedway says all infield parking for the two oval races must be pre-paid. Entry will be allowed only with a parking pass.
Free parking still will be available outside the Speedway.
