On Sunday, April 14, Pastor Sheryl and Bishop Joby Brady, along with The Potter’s House of North Dallas congregation, celebrated their third anniversary. During the jubilant occasion, Bishop T.D. Jakes, the guest speaker, and Brady took a stroll down memory lane.

“So, I’m walking around this JC Penney’s store looking for this little boy’s suit and my phone rings, which totally shocked me because it never rings like that,” shared Brady in a video presentation of the moment she got “the call” from Bishop Jakes.

“I knew I had no signal strength,” she said, so when Bishop Jakes identified himself on the line, “at that point,” Brady continued, “I’m like, I didn’t want to move, okay? Because I know I’m gonna get disconnected at any moment.”

What she didn’t know is that the pastor of the 30,000 member Potter’s House church in Dallas, TX was about to ask her to consider walking away from The River Church, in Durham, NC, relocating her family, and accepting the pastorate of a new ministry.

“I’ve been thinking about you and your ears must be burning because we’ve been thinking about you. We’ve been talking about you,” Jakes told a surprised Brady.

“I just want to ask you if y’all will pray about coming home,” she remembered. “And he started just casting a little bit of vision about what he wanted to see with the Potter’s House North and I just stood there. I was just frozen and not just because of my signal but it was so impactful because I knew it was a destiny moment.”

That was the beginning of a transitional phase that would culminate in the launch of the North Dallas campus church just before Easter in 2010.
