This is more along the lines of “SNATCH THIS WHEEL AND TURN ON THE CRUISE CONTROL”
A homeless woman lives a life behind bars by choice.
Chicago Police have arrested Shermain Miles, 51, approximately 396 times since 1978. Her long rap sheet includes 65 arrests for disorderly conduct, 59 for prostitution-related crimes, 93 for theft, and five for robbery.Officer Tom Rolon is one of many who have responded to one of Miles’ extracurricular activities. Rolon admits that he would receive calls of an ill and outlandish woman and once he arrived, Miles would say “Officer Rolon, I love you,” and act as if nothing ever happened.
“Miles is a master at working the system, She fakes seizure that mean costly hospital visits. She gets judges to delay her cases and then she returns to the streets to be arrested again and again- so many times that she ranks in the top 1% for all current CPD arrestees,” said Rolon.
According to Miles’ sister, who wished to be anonymous, Miles is a result of a troubled childhood. Miles was abused by her mother and later on handed over to foster care. By the tender age of 14, she began living on the streets and later became a teenage mother.
Miles is currently in prison for violating her parole by chasing, slapping, and punching the general public and a responding police officer. If convicted, she will not be released till April 2014.
