Atlanta police arrested brothers Montez Thompkins, 21 (pictured left), and Jeremy Jemell Thompkins, 23 (pictured right) on Wednesday, 6 months after the Nov. 3 fatal shooting of 2-year-old Ty-Teyanna Motley and charged them with her murder, reports the AJC.com.
Little Ty-Teyanna was asleep in her bed with her 1-year-old brother, Isaiah, and her grandmother at around 1:40 a.m., when bullets came flying through the front door of their family’s home. Ty-Teyanna was killed and Isaiah was rushed to a local hospital in stable but critical condition.
“Someone must know something,” the children’s grandfather, Tommy Wood, told The AJC at the time. “They need to find out who did this to this baby.”
The Atlanta Fugitive Unit located and apprehended both suspects Wednesday in DeKalb County, according to the AJC. They were charged with murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and reckless conduct.

This is the second Georgia child murder that has been in the news in recent months.
As previously reported by NewsOne, 13-month-old Antonio Santiago of Brunswick, Georgia was being strolled by his mother, Sherry West, on a quiet, tree-lined street when allegedly two young Black men tried to rob her. When she said that she didn’t have any money, she claims that one of them shot her in the leg and ear, then coldly walked over to the stroller and fatally shot her baby boy in the face.
Dominique Lang, 15, allegedly admitted to being involved in the attempted robbery. He then allegedly led authorities to the alleged shooter, De’Marquis Elkins, 17, who denies being involved.
