Deputy Fired For Sexual Misconduct

A jail deputy was fired Wednesday afternoon after he was accused of sexual misconduct charges. Officials said, Warren Hoosier, a 13-year member of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, inappropriately touched a female inmate that was in his custody last Friday.

The matter was turned over to the criminal division to investigate. Hoosier gave a confession to investigators and confirmed the inmate’s accusations.

He was fired by Sheriff John Layton yesterday. Sheriff’s investigators said they would meet with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office to seek criminal charges.

Man Dressed as Woman Shot on East side

A man dressed as a woman was shot near an east side intersection. The shooting was reported just after midnight near 11th Street and Keystone Avenue. Detectives did not release the victim’s name, only saying that he was dressed in women’s clothing.     The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injures. IMPD and FBI Find Bones in Vacant House

Indianapolis police and FBI investigators spent the day at a vacant home on the near southeast side Wednesday, but they’re not exactly sure what they found there. Investigators found bones at the home, in the 1500 block of East English Avenue, but they haven’t determined what type of bones they are.

Neighbors said the house has been vacant for about six months and they saw people with shovels coming and going from the house prior to detectives arriving. Investigators said the house is not yet an active crime scene.

Indianapolis Land Bank Shutdown

The city’s Land Bank program is on hold indefinitely while the FBI investigates alleged corrupt business practices.  Federal officials raided the Department of Metropolitan Development on Tuesday and arrested two employees accused of taking kickbacks and bribes.  Mayor Greg Ballard says the average citizen should be outraged because “we just can’t let this happen.”

2013 Construction Season Underway

The Department of Public Works is investing 92-million-dollars to improve the city’s streets, trails and sidewalks.  On Wednesday, Mayor Greg Ballard officially kicked off the 2013 construction season.  Around 120-miles of streets will be resurfaced, nearly 30-thousands feet of new trails will be created and 83-thousand linear feet of sidewalks will be poured.

IndyGo Adds New Crosstown Route

IndyGo is expanding their service.  Beginning June 9th, the newly created Route 86 will be available.  Officials say it will connect with seven existing IndyGo routes and will travel to the 86th and 82nd Street area.
