Hibbert Fined $75,000 For Vulgar Language

Roy Hibbert used a gay slur in one answer and a curse to refer to the media in another during his news conference following Game 6 against Miami, resulting in a $75,000 fine from the NBA. Hibbert ended a response to a question about his defense on LeBron James with “no homo.”

Hibbert was later asked why he finished so low in the voting for “Defensive Player of the Year”,his response to reporters was “because y’all (expletive) don’t watch us play throughout the year”

Late Sunday morning, Hibberts issued a statement apologizing for his choice of words, and now we move on to the all-important game 7 tonight at 8:30

 

Police Shoot Man As He Stabbed 6-Year-Old Daughter

A man was fatally shot by Police while he was stabbing his 6-year-old daughter.

Police found the man on top of his daughter, stabbing her repeatedly before one of the officers shot him.  The 6-year-old girl later died at a hospital. Neighbors say the family is originally from Kenya and moved to South Bend area two years ago.

Police tell local TV station WDNU that the 6-year-old’s mother also suffered several lacerations and stab wounds, but is expected to survive.

 

4 Shot at Sweet 16 Party

Four people were shot early Sunday after a fight broke out at an Sweet 16 party on Indianapolis’ northeast side. This happened just after midnight in the 1900 block of East 46th Street. When police arrived at the scene, officers said they saw at least 100 juveniles running from the area.

One officer reported a 20-year-old woman on the ground who had been shot and three other teens, ages 16, 17 and 19, also suffering from gunshot wounds. All four victims were taken to Methodist Hospital.

 

Man Found Shot To Death on North side

A man was found shot to death on the city’s north side early Sunday.

Around 8:30am IMPD officers were called to the 1700 block of Century Circle North, near 79th Street and Ditch Road on reports of a person shot. When police arrived, they found a man, identified as 27 year old Charles Clark dead at the scene.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.

 

Driver Crashes Through Jiffy Lube

A driver was arrested yesterday after crashing a pickup truck into a Jiffy Lube on the Northeast side.

When firefighters arrived, they found a Ford F-150 had gone through the glass garage door at the business. The driver fled the scene, but Indianapolis police took that person into custody a short time later. No one was injured.

 

Car Flips and Crashes Into House

A has car flipped and crashed into a house near Lawrence this morning.

The crash was reported just before 3 a.m.  in the 6600 block of Sparrowood Drive, near 65th Street and Pendleton Pike. Few details were released about what caused the crash or if anyone inside the home was injured.

 

Indiana Fever Season Begins

The new season for the Indiana Fever is underway.  Team officials say ticket sales are up by 65-percent and corporate support has increased 20-percent because of last year’s championship.  The Fever is on the road Wednesday to play New York.

 

2 Year Anniversary of IU Student’s Disapperance

Today is the two-year anniversary of the day IU student Lauren Spierer went missing.  Bloomington Police say they’ve received more than three-thousand tips since June 3rd, 2011 and the investigation is still active.  Spierer’s parents are active on Facebook and Twitter, continuously asking people who know something to come forward.
