The Joel Osteen iPhone app is proving to be a popular tool and has already been downloaded over 50,000 times since its release last week, a spokesperson for Lakewood Church in Texas revealed.

“It reached #41 overall out of over 400,000 free apps, ranking ahead of Spotify, Netflix, Facebook, Groupon, Pinterest and Pandora, among others,” Andrea Davis, senior director of media relations shared with the Houston Chronicle.

The app came out on June 4, taking No. 2 spot on Apple’s App Store, and has grown in popularity ever since. The tool offers readers the Word Devotional posts from Osteen, as well as the megachurch’s schedule, and other information to stay connected.

Jerry Cooley, creative director at Lakewood Church, said, “Our goal for the app is to allow the millions of people who watch Joel on TV to have real easy access to his messages, the inspiring content that Joel has for them on a daily basis.”

“A great thing about the app is that wherever they are, they can just stop, pull up the app, watch Joel and listen to his messages,” he added.

The Today’s Word Devotional, which offers messages from Osteen and his wife, Victoria, reminds readers that God has created people to be victors, not victims, and promises that the daily inspirations will “help you grow in your relationship with the Lord and equip you to be everything God intends you to be.”

“God doesn’t just want you to survive, he wants you to thrive! Learn to rise above any circumstance with the message of faith, hope and strength from Joel Osteen,” the description for the app on the Apple site reads.

The app has received positive user reviews on the iPhone page.

“Thank you so much for work and effort to make this world a better place. We need more Apps like this as a tool to enrich our lives in Jesus Christ,” reads one review by user David346890.

The app also gives people access to content from Osteen’s popular Night of Hope sermon events, which he takes around the country, speaking to tens of thousands of people at sold-out stadiums.

The popular pastor has embraced various social media means to spread his message, with a recent Night of Hope event in Miami in April offering “a 360-degree interactive event connecting the online audience with the Osteens and the crowd in the stadium.”
