Scandals have rocked the church one after the other. Leaders are being caught left and right in

compromising situations. Many in the Body of Christ are left asking, what’s going on?

On a recent Donnie McClurkin Show broadcast, Pastor Marvin Sapp and Bishop Hezekiah Walker, among

other things, talked about the importance of leaders taking time to steal away and replenish in the presence

of the Lord.

Walker, who just released his new album, Azusa: The Next Generation, made the point that, “You cannot be

a help to anyone else until you help yourself.”

He continued, “Most preachers are caught up in a lot of negativity, it’s because they don’t have time for

themselves, and they don’t have time to deal with themselves.”

The discussion stemmed from a question asked by McClurkin. “All they taught us in ministry is how to serve

people,” he said. “So now that I’m caught in the cycle, how do I sit back and extend my hand to myself,

because that is the most unnatural thing in the world for me? I’m being honest with you.”
