Man Found Shot and Killed In Car On East Side

A man sitting in a parked car was shot and killed outside an apartment complex on the city’s east side early this morning.

The shooting was reported just after midnight in the 10,000 block of King Arthur Drive near East 30th Street and Mitthoeffer Road.

Witnesses told police the man had been sitting in the parked car with the engine…running and that two men were seen running from the parking lot after the shooting.

Coroner Confirms Missing Teen Found In Geist Reservoir

the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that the body found in a submerged SUV at Geist Reservoir is that of 18-year-old Peyton Riekhof.

Search teams found Riekhof’s SUV around 4:30 Sunday afternoon, after receiving a tip from a neighbor that tire tracks we found leading into the reservoir.

The Hamilton County Coroner says the cause of death is being ruled as a drowning.

Peyton, a 2013 graduate of Hamilton Southeastern High School, was bound for college at Kansas University.

 

4-Year-Old Shot On East Side Monday Night

A 4-year-old child remains in the hospital this morning after she was shot and injured on the city’s east side last night.

IMPD said The incident happened near 38th Street and North Sherman Drive at 8 O’Clock.

The young girl’s mother initially reported the child was cut, not that she had been shot. Officers were led to believe that the child was hurt when she struck a parked vehicle.

The girl underwent surgery and was in stable, but good condition at Riley, police said.

Felony Neglect Charges In Toddler’s Death

Felony charges have been filed against a mother and her boyfriend in the death of a 15-month-old baby.

23 year old Nikita Dunn, and her boyfriend 27 year old Darrell Daniels Jr., each face a felony count of neglect of a dependent after the May 4 death of Dunn’s toddler.

An autopsy ruled that the baby died of blunt force trauma and had internal injuries, which officials say could have been treated and the child would have lived if Dunn and Daniels had sought medical care for the baby.

Dunn and Daniels are being held on $100,000 bond each and both were expected to appear in court later in the week.
