“American Idol” winner Fantasia Barrino was hospitalized Monday night for a drug overdose, local Charlotte station WCNC reports.
The station cited sources who said the singer was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville at about 8:55 p.m. Monday. Her condition was not life-threatening, WCNC reported.
The overdose comes as Barrino is dealing with a lawsuit that claims she broke up a marriage in part by making a number of sex tapes. Court documents filed by Paula Cook said her husband Antwuan Cook began having an affair with Fantasia in August 2009.
The complaint referenced sex tapes, saying the “Husband and Ms. Barrino have at times recorded their illicit sexual activity.”
As reported earlier, Barrino has denied being at fault. Her manager released a statement to TMZ saying Barrino is “certain that she is not responsible for the deterioration of Cook’s marriage.”
It was unclear in the WCNC report whether the OD was intentional or accidental.
