Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound is headed to Hollywood.

The annual gospel music choir competition, hosted by Donald Lawrence and Yolanda Adams, will hold its finale to determine the 2013 winner on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Nokia Theatre.

Seven choirs advancing from the region competitions will perform their signature song in front of celebrity judges Tamela Mann, Hezekiah Walker and VaShawn Mitchell.

Region winners include Joshua Kagler & Harmonistic Praise (New Orleans), St. Mark Sanctuary Choir of Little Rock, Ark. (Dallas), Gentle Giant Music Ministries of Hyattsville, MD. (Baltimore), The St. Thomas Gospel Choir of the African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas of Philadelphia (New York City), Carlos Whitlow & Generation Praise (Detroit), Souls of Salvation: SOS (Chicago), and Darryl Izzard & Christ-N-Uof Columbia, S.C. (Atlanta).

Contestants compete for a How Sweet the Sound/eOne music recording contract, $25,000 in cash and prizes and the title of “America’s Best Gospel Choir.”

Last year’s grand prize winner of How Sweet the Sound was Chicago’s Dexter Walker & Zion Movement.
