Deadly Winter Blaze Kills One on Westside

Wayne Township fire crews battled a deadly garage fire in on the city’s southwest side Tuesday morning. One man died in this blaze that started before 4:50 a.m. in the 4800 block of Plainfield Avenue. Firefighters found the victim dead in his car but before they could remove the body, the garage collapsed with the rescuers narrowly escaping. The victim’s identity has not been released at this time. Fires in frigid temperatures are extremely dangerous to all involved.
