Public Library Assn Pres Carolyn Anthony

Some 8,000 librarians, board members and staff of the nation’s public libraries are meeting in Indianapolis at the annual convention of the Public Library Association (PLA).  A division of the American Library Association, the PLA represents the public library systems in cities large and small throughout the country. The issues Indianapolis’ own Public Library system faces, – increasing use of technology, diversity, financial pressures, reduced revenues to local governments and libraries, the reduced role of printed books and magazines – are issues every public library faces. Afternoons with Amos talked about the broad issues facing America’s public libraries with Carolyn Anderson, head of the Skokie, Illinois Public Library and President of the Public Library Association.
