Mayor Greg Ballard has unveiled his plan to reduce “black-on-black” violence in Indianapolis. The “Your Life Matters” initiative includes mentorship, employment programs and reentry services for youth, along with counseling services for parents. Citing statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Ballard said Wednesday the city loses “more young men of color to murder than car crashes or disease.” Mayor Ballard said this loss of life due to murder is now a public health crisis.
