Bob Butler NABJ PresThe National Association of Black Journalists is blasting Bill Cosby’s recent call for the black media to remain neutral in covering the mounting sexual assault allegations against the comedian. NABJ President Bob Butler tells TheWrap.com this is not a racial issue and that all media should remain neutral in reporting the facts. Butler says it’s a journalist’s responsibility to cover both sides of the story and that Cosby should not have referenced black media in a recent conversation with a “New York Post” reporter.  To read all of Butler’s comments click the web’s link.

Cosby’s attorney, meantime, is continuing to denounce the publication of those comments made in a brief phone conversation. On Monday, John P. Schmitt issued a statement saying Cosby was unaware that he was being interviewed for the “Post” or that he was being recorded. That denouncement has also gone viral. Schmitt says in a discussion of journalistic standards the reporter failed to adhere to the most basic standards of his profession. That reporter is Stacy Brown. Brown spoke on Tuesday to the Tom Joyner Morning Show heard on our sister FM station, 106.7 WTLC. Click HERE to listen to Brown.
