CLOSE

172686275Hamilton Southeastern and Westfield school districts have closed this Monday morning due to icy weather and traffic conditions.  Ice is covering Indianapolis and the surrounding metro area today. The icy conditions are heavier to the northern parts of the metro area causing slide offs and many delays. In fact, Indianapolis Public Schools are now on a two hour delay. Give yourself extra time if you have to get out and about and plan to slow down.  Be careful on the sidewalks and walkways too, they’re icy.

Travel advisories are in effect here in Marion County. A travel watch is in effect in counties to the north like Hamilton.

Icy conditions are impacting public transportation in the city. IndyGo tweeted out to riders this morning “RIDER ALERT: Service is expected to operate with potentially significant delays on this morning due to the Sunday night ice storm.” Expect delays in this morning commute overall. Commuters, including the buses have been detoured to avoid Spring Mill Road in the city between Kessler and 64th Street because of icy conditions on that hill.
