President Obama is coming to Indianapolis today to promote his call for “middle class economics.” The President will speak this afternoon at Ivy Tech Community College. Air Force One touches down at 1:30 p.m. at Indianapolis International Airport and he speaks at the junior college at 2:15 p.m. Obama has been pushing the Republican-led Congress to embrace policies aimed at boosting the middle class, including job creation projects such as infrastructure renovation–bridges, highways, ports and railways. The president’s speech is expected to be a Town Hall-style where he’ll address students and an assorted gathering of Indiana and Indianapolis politicians.
He’s fresh off the heels of headlining the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC where he emphasized that faith is used for good, but is also twisted and rationalized in acts of evil. He went on to keep his history lesson on religion–linked with ISIS barbarianism–a bit too real for his critics by saying, “Lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, replace that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ.” He added, “In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.”
Expect traffic delays in the route to and from the airport this afternoon anywhere between the 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. hour. The president is scheduled to take off from Indy at 5 p.m.
