?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????One woman on Indy’s near-northwest side woman Wednesday morning is crediting the Indianapolis Fire Department’s fire prevention month program for saving her life.  A fire broke out in Johnie Mae Pannell’s home near 30th and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Streets around a quarter to four and the smoke detector that she received free of charge from IFD back in October during their community outreach to prevent fires alerted her to get up, get in her wheelchair and get out of her house to call for help. She only suffered minor injuries in the blaze and was taken to Eskenazi Hospital for treatment. Not only is this a story of gratitude, it’s one that can help someone else who may be in need.

If you are in need a smoke detector, IFD is willing to assist you. Give their smoke detector hotline a call at 317-327-6093 or log on to their web, HERE.
