- 1/2 cup (1 stick) of cold salted butter, divided
- 1/4 cup of Steen’s pure cane syrup
- 1-1/2 cups of brown sugar, packed and divided
- 2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of cloves
- Grating of fresh nutmeg (about 5 passes on a microplane)
- 1/4 cup of chopped pecans, optional
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup of bourbon
- 1/2 cup of pecans (optional)
