Jennifer Phillips is a 49-year-old contestant on this season of the X Factor UK. Phillips said she had given up on her singing career, but decided to give the show a shot. She was originally going to sing a cover of Beyoncé’s “Halo,” but the judges asked her to opt for something different. Phillips decided to go with a cover of Mary Mary’s “Shackles,” and she brought the house down!
Judge, Simon Cowell said, “You were gonna sing ‘Halo,’ and you had this one in your back pocket?” Jennifer received a standing ovation and 4 “yeses” to move on in the competition. Check out her performance below, and around the 1 minute mark you will know why she had everyone up on their feet.
