In a fascinating Afternoons with Amos discussion, one of the country’s leading African-American genealogists Michael Henderson, joined with leaders of the Indiana African-American Genealogy Group (IAAGG) in a fascinating hourlong in-depth discussion of genealogy – what it is, how to do you go about researching your family tree and family heritage and the importance of it.

Michael Henderson is a former Naval Lt. Commander who took up genealogy to answer questions about his family tree. Once he got into it, he became of the country’s tops in the field. He’s traced his lineage to persons who fought for the in the American Revolution, causing him to be made a member of the Sons of the American Revolution Organization. Henderson also discovered relatives who fought in the War of 1812 at the Climatic Battle of New Orleans. Joining Henderson was IAAGG President Judy Casey, and IAAGG members Tanya Hull and Donna Stokes Lucas. The organization is holding their annual Conference this Saturday September 19th at the Eiteljorg Museum, West and Washington Streets Downtown. The group also meets monthly at the museum and holds seminars throughout the area. Betty Barnett was one of the many station “behind the scenes” employees who make our stations the success they are. Betty was in charge of making sure all the stations’ commercial ads were scheduled and aired as ordered. But Betty Barnett was more than a great employee. She brought a smile, a positive, cheery spirit to her job everyday. Betty had been suffering from an illness in recent months. But she faced that adversity with the same cheerful spirit she devoted to her work and to her family. A loving Woman of God, Strong in her Faith, Betty Barnett passed this Earthly Life on Monday.
