An 8-year-old in West Palm Beach, Florida carried a loaded handgun he lifted from his mother's purse. The boy rode his bicycle to a grocery store where he tried to stick up the cashier.

An 8-year-old West Palm Beach, Florida boy, who allegedly attempted to rob a grocery store with a gun he stole from his mother, will not face charges, according to the New York Daily News.

The incident happened Wednesday when the child, whose name has not been released because he is a juvenile, reportedly walked into King Foods and Meat Bazaar brandishing a handgun.

Surveillance cameras show him entering the store wearing a motorcycle helmet, with a sweater covering his mouth.

Give me the f—ing money,” he reportedly said to the clerk.

Via the New York Daily News:

He went through the entry door very quietly, very confidently,” the clerk told NBC Miami.

“It’s so shocking. I feel like you have to be careful with everybody nowadays. You can never be too careful.”

The clerk and a co-worker moved quickly to disarm the boy, who later told police he stole the gun from his mother.

“The boy was initially charged with attempted armed robbery with a firearm and aggravated assault, but the state has decided not to press charges,” reports the News.

The child reportedly stole the gun from his mother’s purse and slipped away from the house. The mother has vowed to ensure that the gun is properly stored and locked away.
