The Hoosier racing community is learning today that they’ve suffered a loss as more violent shootings keep metro police busy in the city.

Indiana race car driver Bryan Clauson died following a violent crash on Saturday in Kansas. The announcement was made Monday morning that the 27-year-old passed away Sunday night at a hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. Clauson was racing in the Belleville Nationals midget race when his car flipped several times before spinning back into the flow of traffic, where he was struck by another driver. It took rescue workers about 30-minutes to get him out of his car. Clauson’s family who reside in the Noblesville area released a statement Sunday before the driver’s passing thanking people for reaching out, but also asking for privacy at this time. Their request continues as they shift from hope for recovery to grieving their loved one.

Indianapolis Metro Police say one person is dead and at least two others are recovering after a shooting on the city’s west side Sunday night. It happened on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street near 25th Street about 10:30 p.m. Investigators are still looking for two gunmen they say each fired their weapon in this incident.

Police remained busy this early Monday morning investigating, yet another shooting on the city’s northwest side that has left its victim fighting for his life in a local hospital. After a vehicle crash, police discovered a man shot at least once near 86th Street and Michigan Road around 2:45 a.m. The victim was taken to St. Vincent in critical condition. WTHR reported that the circumstances of this shooting are unclear. They do know, however, that his car jumped the median and crashed in front of Rally’s hamburger restaurant. The vehicle was severely damaged.

Police are waiting for autopsy results for a man pulled from the White River. The body of Pau Mang was recovered Saturday night near I-465 and Thompson Road.  Investigators believe Mang was fishing with others when he went under the water and didn’t resurface.  No foul play is suspected, but an autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.

The Indiana State Fair is underway, but not without its issues for some attendees. Metro Police say more than a dozen cars were broken into last Friday which was opening day, while parked at the Indiana State Fairgrounds infield. So they’re planning to increase patrols, but say you can lower your risk of becoming a target by not leaving anything valuable in sight, so they’re reminding you to just take the valuables out of your vehicle.

The race for the White House is heating up and may signal more problems for Republican nominee, Donald Trump. MSNBC host Joe Scarborough says he’s hearing from multiple sources that an independent conservative candidate is entering the 2016 presidential race.  He said on “Morning Joe” on Monday the candidate will come into the race with a lot of money and a strong backing from conservatives who don’t want to see Trump in the Oval Office. Indiana Governor, Mike Pence is on the Trump ticket and is running with him as vice president. Scarborough later tweeted that the candidate is Evan McMullin. McMullin is a former member of the CIA and is the Chief Policy Director for the House Republican Conference in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Delta is grounding all of its flights as the airline deals with a massive system outage marring air travel on Monday morning. The airline has reported to customers on Twitter that the systems are down everywhere. While there’s been no word on the exact cause of the computer woes, Delta has been telling would-be travelers “Hopefully it won’t be much longer.” The airline is offering a refund to fliers whose flights are delayed or cancelled. Stay tuned to their Twitter page for resolutions.

Field conditions are getting the blame for the cancellation of Sunday night’s scheduled NFL Hall of Fame Game. The Colts were scheduled to play Green Bay in the annual game in Canton, Ohio but the game was called off after portions of the Hall of Fame logo in the middle of the field melted and officials were concerned that players’ cleats would stick. The Colts are off from training camp today in Anderson. Preseason now opens for the them next Saturday in Buffalo.

Former Colts’ head coach Tony Dungy and former wide receiver Marvin Harrison each received their gold jacket on Saturday when the were inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Dungy had a winning record in 12 of his 13 seasons as a head coach and coached the Colts to a Super Bowl win–the first black man to coach to a victory in the sports biggest game. Harrison is the team’s all-time leading receiver. They were in a class of eight enshrined into the HOF that also included the Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Brett Farve.

Day Two of the Olympics was a stunner on the tennis courts. Men’s top seed Novak Djokovic was a first-round loser to Juan Martin del Potro. Venus and Serena Williams were knocked out of the doubles tournament after suffering their first Olympic loss–ever. Day Three begins with shooting, fencing, water polo, and archery events. Also, the U.S. men’s and women’s basketball teams both play today. The women are on first, taking on Spain at 11 a.m. Eastern. Team USA trounced Senegal 121-56 Sunday. The men play Venezuela at 6 p.m. They crushed China 119-62 in their first game on Saturday. The Indiana Fever’s Tamika Catchings and The Indiana Pacers’ Paul George are members of Team USA Basketball and are competing in Rio.
