Michael McLaughlin, a teacher at an inner-city school in Buffalo, NY, grabbed the attention of national radio personality, Erica Campbell, with his fundraising campaign to teach low-income students advanced technology.

While the GRAMMY® Award-winning recording artist admonished others to visit DonorsChoose.org to donate to his cause, she also stressed the importance of visionaries finding innovative ways to get support for their own initiatives, too.

“Even though we know that the Bible says ‘And God shall supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory’ in Philippians 4:19, we understand that we still have to seek,” said the Get Up! Mornings with Erica Campbell host during an “Ericaisms” segment.

Campbell, 46, continued, “Seek and ye shall find. And that’s not just spiritual things.”

For those interested in launching philanthropic nonprofit initiatives, according to the “Help” singer, you don’t have to go it alone.

“There’s always somebody willing to fund a program where you’re trying to help young teenage moms, or trying to give young men something to do, or helping the homeless, or helping seniors. Whatever it is, there’s always somebody willing to help,” she said.

“It’s never going to fall in your lap. So you’ve got to make sure you’re doing your work. ”
