Derris “Dee” Ross running for City-County Councilor of District 14

Derris “Dee” Ross joins us live on Community Connection. He is running for City-County Councilor of District 14.

About Derris “Dee” Ross:

“As a lifelong resident of the Far Eastside,

I have seen the fight, the resiliency, and the pride that we all have in our district. Whether it be our young folks, our ever-growing Spanish speaking population, working families, single moms, or citizens returning from incarceration, we all stand united as one Far Eastside Family.

Over the course of my life, I have experienced thirty-five of my friends lose their lives to senseless violence. I’ve witnessed firsthand the obstacles that many of our residents face in terms of equitable opportunity. Gun violence, poverty, beautification, housing issues, and food scarcity are some of the many issues I will address as your city councilor. As the fiscal agents of the city, it is our responsibility to allocate funding to projects and areas that best serve the city’s constituents and aid in achieving equitable opportunities.

My activism, my work, indeed my entire life has prepared me for public service. Having grown up in Meadowlark Apartments formerly Sutton Apartments and Town & Terrace better known as Brentwood, I would walk the intersection of 42nd and Post almost every day, where I witnessed the struggles we face here in District 14. I give you all my word that as your City Councilor I will never forget my roots and I will always fight for each and every one of you. Thank you for your support.
