Being quarantined for over a year now, really makes you look around your home and fall in love again or gives an urge for a change. There are over 79 million homeowners in the United States but first-time homebuyers aren’t waiting for marriage and the white picket fence anymore. With more and more people getting married or remarried later in life, many first-time buyers are single people looking for their own foundation.

Choosing the type of home could be the first step. An apartment, condo, townhouse, row home, single-family house, beach home, or even a mansion. Each space has its pros and cons and should be evaluated on a personal level. If you know the style of home you’d like then considering whether to rent or buy would be next. For example, if you’re living on your own and only need a space with one or two bedrooms, an apartment might be your first go-to but having that same structure while also becoming a homeowner can be achieved with purchasing a condo. But making the first step of buying or renting is one that involves many factors. How long will I be in this city? Who am I living with? What does my current and future financial situation look like? What’s my credit score? These are all questions that should be considered before taking the next steps.
