Derrick Gordon, a Texas man is lying in a Houston hospital in a coma, after being struck by a vehicle on July 31.

Derrick Gordon has been in a coma for nearly a month.

On July 31, while riding his Harley Davidson Road King, Gordon flew up and landed on the front hood of a vehicle after he was hit by a driver.

“It’s just amazing to even see 1,000-pound plus bike in flight, you know it was just devastating,” said Kenneth Furch, who was riding his motorcycle in the next lane. “Actually, to be quite honest with you, I thought he was dead.”

LOCAL COVERAGE:

Furch said shortly after he and Gordon pulled out on FM 1960, he felt a car coming up from behind him fast.

And when I looked back he was coming so fast I hit the throttle just enough to soften the blow if he hit me, but the car went around me,” he said.

Furch said the vehicle looked like a grayish Toyota Camry, and the driver of that car may have been racing, because in the next lane what appeared to be a dark-colored SUV hit Gordon.

Neither vehicle stopped.

Gordon’s family and friends said they haven’t heard from any detectives since then.

“It’s just like the police, they aren’t doing anything about it, and it’s just crazy,” Furch said.
