Hoosiers Bounce back to Beat Providence

NASSAU, BAHAMAS–The 14th ranked Indiana Hoosier men’s basketball team took home 7th place at the Battle 4 Atlantis on Friday by knocking off Providence 89-73. It was a win the Hoosiers badly needed after two double digit losses on Wednesday and Thursday in the tournament (89-61 loss to Louisville, 89-73 defeat to #3 Gonzaga).

Indiana went on a 9-4 run to end the first half to lead by 10 at halftime 44-34. Then they would lead by as many as 19 in the second half on their way to victory. They also held Providence without a field goal for the final 3:36.

Indiana had 20 assists to 10 turnovers. They also shot 85% from the free throw line and 53% from both two and three-point range.

Mackenzie Mgbako scored 25 points to lead the way for Indiana on 9-14 shooting. The other double figure scorers for Indiana were Malik Reneau (21) and Trey Galloway (18). Galloway also had five rebounds and five assists.

Jayden Pierre scored 22 points to lead Providence.
