From the Block to the Statehouse
From the Block to the Statehouse

If you’ve been watching what’s going on in Indy the rising rent, the struggle to access healthcare, schools not having what our kids need you already know something’s got to give. The truth is, a lot of the decisions that affect our everyday lives are made in rooms we are not in. But the Indiana Community Action Poverty Institute wants to change that and they are calling on us to show up and be heard.
Their “Summer of Action” challenge is a five week experience designed for real people like you and me. It breaks down how state and federal budgets work (without all the boring, confusing stuff), and more importantly how to speak up and advocate for the issues hitting our neighborhoods the hardest.
You do not need a degree in politics. Just your voice, your experience, and your passion for wanting better for yourself, your family, and your city. Each week includes simple challenges you can complete on your own time, plus Zoom sessions where folks from all over Indiana link up to learn and share.
Look, change will not come unless we push for it. Indy is full of smart, powerful, everyday people who care. We just need the tools and the opportunity. This is both.
