Colts wide receiver Pierre Garcon is asking fans to pray for his family in Haiti. Garcon suddenly has much bigger concerns than this weekend’s playoff game.

Number 85 of the Colts was driving home from practice Tuesday when he heard about the earthquake in Haiti, the country where Pierre Garcon’s parents were born.

“It’s terrible. It’s probably the worst thing that could ever happen. It’s probably worse than a nightmare. It’s already a poor country. This just makes it worse. This doesn’t make anything easier now,” he said.

All of Pierre’s immediate family lives in the United States. But he could not even begin to estimate the dozens of aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members living in Haiti. And he’s not sure of their well-being.

Garcon hopes to bring attention and assistance to Haiti through his Facebook and Twitter pages.

“It’s gonna be hard to come back from this because the national palace has been destroyed and the regular houses and buildings. The rebuilding process is gonna take forever. It’s gonna be hard to smile for a while,” he said.

Garcon was already planning a missions trip to Haiti in April.
