The Indianapolis Department of Public Works has ramped up the number of plow drivers to full capacity with 80 Snow Force drivers on the roads since late Sunday afternoon.

Solid waste trucks equipped with snow plows helped clear snow from the city’s 6,000 lane miles of major thoroughfares.

Now residential contract staff has been activated and will work to address all residential areas in Marion County after at least six inches of snow fell.

Residents should expect more trucks on the side streets because there are 203 residential contractors compared to just 91 in previous years.

A break in the snowfall should give the drivers a chance to catch up. Forecast 8’s Angela Buchman says the next chance for snowfall isn’t until Saturday.
