The Franklin Township School Board decided Monday night to reverse its decision to close two schools.

In a surprise move, the district said it will take its chances on another referendum. Monday night’s decision will now keep Acton and Wanamaker Elementary schools open.

Voters rejected a referendum that would have funneled tax dollars into the general and transportation funds to pay expenses. Now, the district will try again to get that measure passed. It’s not clear how much money it will ask voters for this time, but it could likely be $10 million plus the cost of operating the two elementary schools.
