Al “The Bishop” Hobbs, Chairman of the Gospel Announcer Guild

Gives Update on Bishop Albert Jamison

Exclusive to The Belle Report

By Sheilah Belle

Raleigh, NC – During an exclusive interview with Al “The Bishop” Hobbs; Executive Vice Chair of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Chair of the Planning Committee of the GMWA Board, Chairman of the Gospel Announcers Guild, and Liaison to the Gospel Announcer Guild Affiliates, gave us an update on his good friend Bishop Albert Jamison (In photo left).

It was recently reported that Bishop Albert Jamison, Chairman of the Gospel Music Workshop of America was hospitalized while preaching in Orlando, Florida.  However during a Q & A with Al Hobbs here’s what he had to say.

TBR:  So how is Bishop Jamison’s health?

Hobbs:  “Well Bishop Jamison has had some recent health challenges which involved walking pneumonia and in the mist of this, he actually broke his ankle on Mother’s Day morning while trying to get his car washed.  Out of no where a strong wind came along and blew his hat out of his car and he tried to go get it. Because the winds looked like they were subsiding, he went after it, but the winds picked up again and he tried to stomp on it, but when he did, he hit something that was on the ground and actually broke his ankle.

TBR:  And this happened in Orlando, Florida?

Hobbs: No, he was actually on his way to church to preach Mother’s Day morning in Brooklyn, and then he had a standing engagement that was taking place in Orlando, but he didn’t cancel the engagement.

TBR: Thanks for clearing that up because there needed to be clarity.

Hobbs: Well sure.  It’s just like anything else. You get a cold and they are ready to bury you.  The way it is, as far as the rumor mill is concern, yeah, he is alive and well.  He did have to have a procedure that released his lungs so they could function better with this pneumonia.  I believe they went in and actually did some drainage to clear the lungs and chest cavity, but he is not in critical condition.

TBR: So he is NOT in a situation where someone would have to step in for him?

Hobbs: No, no.  And if someone had to step in for him, from a leadership perspective it would me, however, at this juncture as it relates to where the convention (GMWA) is with this particular coming session, all those peas that are on a pod, would have to step up (Not move up) and continue to work efficiently as they do so well.

TBR: What would happen if Bishop Jamison was not in a position to serve? Would it affect the position or change anyone’s position on the board?

Hobbs:  No! It wouldn’t affect anything!  What would happen is, what is probably going to happen.  Knowing Bishop Jamison and if he has blood in his body, he will probably be at bedside running his organization, probably through me to carry out and implement.  That’s probably how it would work.

Bishop Hobbs says, “My job is to overlay special events that have an outreach to not only the primary delegate base but also those who are industry driven to make sure that the convention has relevancy to all who attend.
