The Seattle Seahawks released LenDale White on Friday, less than five weeks after trading for the running back during the draft.

“It became apparent at this time that LenDale was not ready to be a member of the Seattle Seahawks,” team general manager John Schneider said in a statement. “It just did not appear to be the right fit at this point in our program. We wish LenDale all the best with his future.”

White played for new Seahawks coach Pete Carroll at Southern California and spent four seasons with the Tennessee Titans. The 2006 second-round draft pick had a breakout 2007 season with 1,110 rushing yards, then ran for 773 yards and scored 15 touchdowns in 2008.

However, he managed only 222 yards and two scores last year playing behind emerging star Chris Johnson.

The Titans parted ways with White and defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson in a trade with the Seahawks on the final day of the draft, allowing them to move up in the fourth and six rounds.

A report from the NFL Network surfaced later in the day indicating White may be facing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s drug policy.
