In the wake of some of the world’s most momentous and tragic occurrences of late, social networking continues to prove it’s worth.

As President Obama rushed to designate manpower and medicine to Japan, so too did the leaders of various countries like Russia, China, South Korea, Thailand, and Great Britain.

But, for the less advantaged folks not in charge of leading a country, social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter have been an amazing outlet through which to show real-time support.


Relief efforts founded through organizations like the United Nations and Red Cross were also immediately active on Twitter. Other users posted information about tsunami alerts, shelters, and emergency phone lines for non-Japanese speakers.
