Democratic mayoral candidate Brian Williams dropped out of the 2011 race Tuesday (June 15th), throwing his support to front runner Melina Kennedy.  Kennedy talked about the announcement’s impact on her campaign on Afternoons with Amos. Williams, a businessman, had been Kennedy’s main challenger in the battle to determine the Democratic candidate against incumbent Republican Mayor Greg Ballard next year.

In the interview, Kennedy talked about the issues including lack of mayoral leadership, IMPD problems, the Brandon Johnson beating case, the library and IndyGo funding crisis and more.

Two other candidates, both African-Americans, remain the race. City-County Councilman Jose Evans and former Councilman Ron Gibson.
