WISE-UP WEDNESDAY TOPIC

Are you Ready to Rise Up or Give Up?

Depression has a mighty grip on our nation today.  Regardless of your emotional state-of mind, you can rise above your circumstances.  Just because you have a situation does not mean the situation has you!

Depression convinced Elijah that nobody else on earth was as badly off as him. He felt “terminally unique.” We all go through it. Behind your neighbor’s smile or the nameplate on your boss’s door, there are struggles they can’t talk about.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “We may have arrived on different ships, but we’re all in the same boat now.” Paul wrote, “No test or temptation…is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; He’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; He’ll always be there to help you come through it” (1 Cor 10:12-13).

Before every crown, there’s a cross. John Bunyan wrote Pilgrim’s Progress in prison. Florence Nightingale, too ill to move from bed, reorganized the hospitals of England, Louis Pasteur, semi-paralyzed by apoplexy, was tireless in his attack on disease. Francis Parkman couldn’t work for more than five minutes at a time. His eyesight was so bad that he could only scrawl gigantic words on a manuscript, yet he wrote twenty magnificent volumes of history.

You’re not unique! And you’re not alone! “Nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable – absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love” (Rom 8:38). What more do you need?
