Dr. Eugene White demanded an state investigation of charter schools serving Indianapolis.  White presented affidavits and statements from IPS Parents forced to leave area charter schools since the school year began.  Afternoons with Amos heard reaction to IPS’ explosive charges from a spokesman for Mayor Greg Ballard and from a national leader in the school choice movement – Kenneth Campbell, President of Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO). The Documents provided by IPS showed charter schools denying homeless students admission and failing to provide special education services; actions illegal under state and Federal law.  Afternoons with Amos outlined IPS’ findings, while Marc Lotter, Mayor Greg Ballard’s Communications Director responded for the Mayor who is responsible for the schools IPS alleged violated laws. BAEO’s Campbell said the charges are serious and, if true, severe sanctions should be applied.  Hear the data, and the responses from the Mayor’s office and BAEO above.
