Only the university’s third President in its history, Dr. George Miller III was formerly Vice President for Academic Affairs and Presidential Professor of Chemistry at Claflin University.

Miller also served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at several universities including Johnson C. Smith and Bowie State Universities, and for eleven years was at Norfolk State where he rose to the position of Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and helped found the Center for Materials Research.

Miller received his Bachelors degree in Chemistry from Delaware State, a Masters in Chemistry from MIT and his Doctorate from Howard University. He worked five years for NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.

A native of Portland, Indiana, northeast of Muncie; Miller is married with two grown children.
