Dr. Alvin Poussaint, the famed Harvard Medical School Professor, psychiatrist and educator whose landmark studies on the education of Black youth and recognition that racism is a mental illness has influenced the fields of mental health and education is the Keynote Speaker at this year’s Indiana Black Expo Education Conference.  Dr. Poussaint, also worked with Bill Cosby to develop the legendary TV comedy The Cosby Show and worked to make sure the show’s portrayal of Black family life was positive. In an Afternoons with Amos exclusive, Amos talked with Dr. Poussaint on a number of education issues from special education, to Black student behavior, to proper parenting, the role of public schools and more. IBE’s Director of Youth & Family Programs Tuesday Tate also explained the Education Conference and steps to register for it.
