Some of the core responsibilities of being a “Good Christian” is forgiveness and acceptance. It really even a good rule of thumb for being a decent human being if you want to be real. However what happens? People pass judgment, they ridicule and they shun the people in life that are advocates of change or trying to change.

Artist like David Hollister, Montell Jordan and recently Lil Mo have all taken a turn to gospel music and the reception isn’t as welcome as it should be. True! Their past catalog of music is probably considered unplayable to the mass gospel community because of the image and lifestyle it represents..but what about today? What about that change that they are going through and just in need of some acceptance so they can get stronger and move on in life? The voice is there and the message is identical to some of the greats and favorites but yet the reception isn’t favored. What is it truly that makes them “different”?

Kirk Franklin struggled with Porn addiction and Mary Mary has a song with LL Cool J. What makes their acceptance different? The fact that they started in gospel? Wouldn’t it be more suspect or “taboo” to find a secular artist to do a gospel feature than an up and coming artist that you know definitely is repping Christ 100%?

I say all that to say this. If it wasn’t for a past and a chance to change anything in your life you would have the wisdom, strength and endurance that God needs you to have for his army. To speak from a “Holier than Thou” standpoint is absurd and should be corrected. If Heaven was selective where would you go?

Sometimes you have to understand its not the person you have to listen to…it’s the message
