In a first in Indianapolis and Indiana broadcasting, Terri Cope-Walton was named this week as News Director for WRTV/Channel 6, the city’s ABC affiliate station.  Cope-Walton, a veteran of 15 years at the station, had been Assistant News Director. Before that she’s was Community Affairs Director and began her career at WRTV as Producer of their morning newscasts.  Cope-Walton began her media career at WHIO Radio and TV in Dayton.  A graduate of Central State University, Cope-Walton is a veteran broadcast journalist and manager with a passion for her craft and her industry. She’s not the first woman News Director for a major Indianapolis TV station, but the first African-American to hold the position of leading a team of journalists, photographers, producers, both on air and on line, providing news coverage to Central Indiana.  Appearing on Afternoons with Amos Cope-Walton talked about her new  responsibilities and the great team of professionals she has the privilege of working with at Channel 6.
