South Side Explosion Suspect Accused in Murder Plot 

One of the suspects in the Richmond Hill subdivision explosion is now facing a murder-for-hire charge.  Police say while behind bars, Mark Leonard organized the murder of a witness in the explosion case.  Marion County prosecutor Terry Curry is expected to release more details later today.

A body was found outside a senior living center on the city’s near northwest side early this morning.

IMPD responded to a 2am 911 call about a body lying on the sidewalk near the Pilgrim Heritage Estates senior center.

The Marion County Coroner was called to the scene to determine a cause of death.

The person’s identity was not released.

 

Family Of 9 Escapes Indy Fire

A family of nine escaped an overnight house fire in Castleton.

Indianapolis Fire crews were sent to a home around 1am this morning on 911 reports of a loud noise and fire.

Homeowners and their seven children ages 11, 9, 7, 5, 4, 2, and 6 months, escaped the home without injury.

IFD said the fire was likely sparked by a heat pump. The damage is estimated at $20,000.

 

Man Found Shot on 38th Street

A person was shot inside a car near 38th Street and Keystone Avenue this morning.

Detectives said the shooting was reported just before 3 a.m. After the shooting, the car crashed into a fence of a nearby business.

Police did not say if the unidentified victim was the driver or the passenger.

 

Mother Arrested after 4 Year Old Found Wandering Streets

An Indianapolis mother has been arrested after her 4-year-old son was found wandering alone on the city’s southwest side.

Two women  found the boy walking with no shoes, no coat and had urinated on himself.

The women called police when there was no answer at the door of his home.

The Boy’s mother Roial  Harris, told police she had left her sleeping son to do laundry at a nearby Laundromat.

Harris was arrested on a preliminary charge of neglect of a dependent. The boy was placed with his grandparents.

 

1 Killed in Clinton County Crash

One person was killed and three people were injured when a vehicle crashed into a tree early Wednesday in Clinton County.

Police said the vehicle was speeding when it crossed a set of railroad tracks before going airborne. The driver lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into a tree.

One unidentified passenger was thrown from the vehicle and later died at St. Vincent Hospital in Frankfort. The other passenger and the 18 year old driver were taken to the hospital.

Police said no one in the car was wearing seat-belts.
